Tuffa Boots Sponsored Riders
For many years we proudly sponsored the late, great, Team GB Olympic Showjumper, Tim Stockdale, and now the mantle has been passed down to Joseph Stockdale, showjumper, equine influencer and all-round chip-off-the-old-block!
Joe's been riding since he was 4 years old, but he's not only a gifted equestrian; he also competed and played for Northampton County Cricket from age 11, choosing to focus on riding in 2018.
We are Joe and Team Stockdale's sole, sole provider!
Joe, wears our bespoke riding boots "The Stockdale" which were developed with Tim and Joe back in 2015.
Working with Joe is very exciting, his equestrian career is climbing and he's very proactive with his brand and the brands of his sponsors. His social media presence has an ever growing audience and for us having that injection of youthful enthusiasm is very refreshing.
Our Association with Team Stockdale has been established for many years. Tim Stockdale (deceased) regularly called into our trade stand at the shows and would sit and discuss his challenges about keeping a large team of horses and grooms on the road.
Tim was keen to kit out his team with Tuffa boots, as he understood how many hours that his grooms were on their feet and how many miles they walked in a day. He found that different styles from our range worked for their various requirements and as we have now supplied boots to Team Stockdale for over 15 years, we know that they have stood the test of time with most boots lasting up to 2 years with heavy daily wear.
Another issue for Tim was that his long competition boots were failing regularly. Tim had a wider foot fitting and he had tried most of the competition boots on the market, but had always found them to be tight in the foot which led to the boots being uncomfortable and subsequently splitting.
Tim and Michelle spoke about making a bespoke pair of boots for him and by understanding his requirements for a wider foot, combined with his long leg, we made the first pair of The Stockdale boot. Since then, we have gone on to offer a Bespoke service for the public for all sizes and styles which has proved to be incredibly popular, with many customers truly blown away with being able to wear, well-fitting, long boots for the first time.
We are now proud to make boots for Tim's son Joe, who uses his new, best pair for competition and his older pairs for daily use. The fact that he wears our boots constantly is testament to what a vital part of kit they are to Team Stockdale and we wish him huge success for the future.
Sue Smith Racing
Left to Right: Harvey Smith, Danny Cook, Sue Smith
We have supported Sue Smith Racing with footwear, clothing, saddle cloths etc for her jockeys, grooms, stable-hands and race horses since 2014.
Sue and Harvey have been training horses from Craiglands Farm for almost 30 years. Nestled in the heart of the West Yorkshire moors, their land is perfect for putting the horses through their paces, the undulations are ideal for training horses for stamina. The yard has its own All-Weather gallops that measure just over three miles and access to over two hundred acres of farmland and endless acres of moorland!
Our Sandown exercise boots were first trialled by Sue and Harvey's team and have gone on to be one of our best selling boots! They were the first of our ever growing racing boot range which now includes six styles, with a brand new racing boot in the design phase at the moment, watch out for The Jonjo O'Neill, coming Spring 2021.
We are delighted to welcome Alan Johns to Tuffa as our sponsored Professional National Hunt jockey.
Alan turned professional in June 2013 and is based at Tim Vaughan Racing.
We are proud to sponsor Danny Cook who has achieved well deserved success as a National Hunt Jockey. We were introduced to Danny by Sue and Harvey Smith, owners of Sue Smith Racing.
Danny has been the regular jockey for the yard for the past 4 seasons having started his career out at Martin Pipe’s. His biggest success for us is winning on Midnight Shadow in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham whilst he has also won many major races with Definitely Red for Brian Ellison.
Unfortunately, Danny suffered a severe facial injury in October 2020 and we wish him well for a full recovery.
Carol Chapman, is a local endurance rider who’s risen up through the ranks and represented England in 2014 & 2016.
Carol was first introduced to endurance some fifteen years ago and was hooked from the first ride. Thirteen years ago, she bought Silver Prince Sadik, a then four year old who had recently been broken to ride. At the age of five, he was registered to compete and so the duo’s competitive career began. Since Carol registered Silver Prince Sadik, they have covered over 1000km competitively together with Endurance GB. Summer 2014 saw Carol take part at the Home Internationals in Scotland, representing England – a competition that the England team won.
“I have worn Tuffa boots for many years and have found them to be the best and extremely comfortable, so it’s lovely to be sponsored by a company that I feel I know so well,” says Carol. “I wear them around the yard, for training, for competing and general use. I currently have three different styles in use and would highly recommend them to anyone, whatever discipline they compete in. I am very grateful that Tuffa decided to sponsor me.”
“We’re really pleased to be able to support Carol,” says Michelle Girling from Tuffa Footwear. “She’s a local lady who’s done incredibly well and we’re excited to watch her and support her in her sport.”
One of Tuffa’s most popular lines, the Endurance Riding Trainer, is worn by Carol and is ideal for endurance riding.
For many years, Lynn Russell has been tirelessly putting our boots through their paces as one of our Trial & Testers.
When Lynn isn't competing, she keeps busy running her yard or taking her riding event clubs and clinics.
We often sponsor prizes for Lynn's events with our Junior Show boots or Gift Vouchers.
We have been supporting and sponsoring Ali and her groom for many years with our footwear.
We're currently one of Lime Kiln's arena brand sponsors and we regularly get involved with events in some form; be it sponsoring a jump or providing the prizes.
Oliver started his eventing career in the North Norfolk Pony Club, where he saw success at area and national level.
Shortly after completing his first affiliated events, he became a working pupil for Laurence Hunt in Leicestershire where he competed nationally and internationally up to Intermediate/CC3* level. During this time, he also was fortunate to train with Tracie Robinson and Ian Woodhead. Upon leaving Laurence's, Oliver went to work and train at Sharon Hunt's yard in Suffolk where he continued to progress up the levels, completing in national Advanced classes and producing his own young horse to compete in the 7yr old CIC**.
The last few years have been spent concentrating on helping a diverse group of teaching clients with their own goals, utilising the knowledge gained whilst training with some of the country's best riders.
Pre Covid, Oliver purchased an exciting young horse 'Treasure Hunt' with the goal of producing him up the levels in eventing alongside teaching commitments and running his own yard in Norfolk.
